About JCNA
The Joslyn Castle Neighborhood Association formally organized in 1989. The original group of neighbors began this group over concerns about the neighborhood Saunders grade school being turned into apartments. Today the association boundaries encompass over 1700 households.
Over the years, JCNA has won many community awards including the 1997 Urban Community Improvement Program Neighborhood Excellence Award and the 2006 Metropolitan Area Planning Agency Award. JCNA also prides itself in raising the money to convert a large parking lot on 43rd Street into the Clarkson Neighborhood Park and on working with the city to develop a pedestrian-friendly intersection at 40th and Davenport.
JCNA’s current motto is “To strengthen the fabric of our community, to preserve and promote the historic character of our unique neighborhood, and to nurture and participate in its economic vitality.”
